Coffee on the Moon
Written by Karleigh Paul
Illustrated by Shelby Mymko
In this book, two characters journey through an artistic interpretation of an afterlife where they discover there are lots of amazing things to experience. Written with the concept that children can use play to process hard feelings, this story is a short and fun way of exploring this topic.
Book Background
This story was written in memory of Tyler & Taylor, two beloved parents from two separate families, whom each battled cancer during the pandemic.
It was inspired by the encouragement from healthcare workers throughout the end-of-life journey to discuss with loved one’s the various beliefs about afterlife – a topic that can bring comfort in the hardest of times.
Although this book may offer the opportunity to open discussions with a child about difficult topics such as grief, this book is not a grief resource. It’s a make believe poetic interpretation which may be an emotional experience for some people. Please consider being prepared to discuss grief when reading this with a child.
